NH embraces tech
NH Hoteles has become the first hotel group to install Microsoft Lync videoconferencing in its hotels. The company is also trialling 3D holographic technology for remote meetings, in its Madrid and Berlin hotels.
Starwood’s Frits van Paasschen no longer has an office computer, instead relying on tablets and smartphones. He ditched the desktop when Starwood last moved offices, and now has a far greater understanding of guests’ needs, reports the Wall Street Journal.
Fined for bad review
A hotel owner in Blackpool,UK has backtracked on a policy of fining customers for bad reviews. Guests had GBP100 taken from their credit card, after posting a negative review on TripAdvisor.
Ascott adds in Busan
The Ascott has signed its first Citadines aparthotel in South Korea. A 468 unit in Busan is scheduled to open in the second half of 2015.
