BW signs first Premier

Hotel marketing platform Best Western has signed its first independent hotel to its superior sub brand, BW Premier Collection. The Hotel Master Johan in Malmo, Sweden will keep its own name but use Best Western’s distribution system.

Sahara makes Plaza deal

A consortium of investors has agreed a USD1.55bn loan to Sahara group, owner of the New York Plaza hotel and Grosvenor House in London. The cash will allow Sahara to refinance debt at the Plaza, and pay bail to release Sahara chief Subrata Roy from jail, reports the Wall Street Journal.

Hotel group Meininger has agreed a deal to fund growth across Europe. An agreement with Fonciere des Regions will see the investor acquire up to EUR400m of new hotel properties, reports Reuters.

Hotels in Bahrain recovered in October with revpar up 20.9% during the month as rates in Manama rose 11.2%. Also improving was Beirut, where occupancy was up 8.5% to 60.7%, reports Hotstats.
