• French sharing row

Hoteliers in France are demanding a clampdown on accommodation sharing sites such as Airbnb.  An open letter from the French hotel union to the prime minister calls for tighter regulation in order to level what it sees as an unfair market.

Demands include imposing a minimum seven night stay, and enforcing VAT and mandatory registration. The union suggests such sites are having an impact, as there were no job increases in the French hospitality industry last year.
