    UK sees recovery

    The last week of August saw UK hotels enjoy their best occupancy since March. Plymouth hotels were at 96%, while those in Brighton recorded 93%, reports STR. Regional hotels continue to lead the recovery, though London recorded 50% occupancy on the bank holiday weekend. Dublin was the weakest city market, at 31% occupancy.

    Mantra grows

    Accor has signed a hotel in Melton, Australia to its Mantra brand. The 41 room hotel is located alongside Tabcorp Park horse racing facility. Melton is around 45 minutes from central Melbourne. Accor acquired Mantra in 2018, and in the last two years has added five Australian hotels to the brand.

    Hyatt signs Monterrey

    Hyatt has signed an agreement to add its Thompson brand to a new build hotel in Monterrey, Mexico. The addition will be the brand’s fourth hotel in the country. Developers Visa Desarrollos and Grow2 will complete the 150 room property for opening in 2022. Hyatt has six further Thompson branded hotels in its development pipeline. [...]

    Travelodge looks back

    Travelodge Hotels has reported 2019 revenues up 4.9% at GBP713.2m, with revpar up 0.3%. Pretax profits were down 7.6% at GBP45.3m for the full year.
