Edinburgh council has declared it has overwhelming support for a GBP2 per night tourist tax. But hoteliers have criticised the consultation, saying few of them are in favour, reports The Scotsman.
The council says that 85% of 2,500 respondents to its consultation supported the new tax. If implemented, the Transient Visitor Levy could raise the city more than GBP11m per year.
