Whitbread has laid out plans to more than double its portfolio, to 170,000 rooms. Of these, it says it could grow the UK portfolio to at least 110,000 rooms across its Premier Inn, Hub and Zip brands.
In Germany, where the group has a pipeline of 6,000 rooms currently, it assesses potential to grow to 60,000 rooms. The group will use share buybacks to return GBP2.5bn of its GBP3.9bn received from the sale of Costa Coffee.
